I just did a piece on
Zbig Brzezinski for the American Conservative, tried to get him to break loose re Israel/Palestine. The man was careful. But I say it's the Jeffrey Goldberg effect--when Goldberg all-but-embraced the Walt and Mearsheimer thesis
in the May 18 Times (even as he tried to cover himself by attacking them). Goldberg has given room to Zbig. Here the Telegraph of London has Zbig letting his hair down, just a
little, attacking some members of the Jewish leadership as "McCarthyite":
"They operate not by arguing but by slandering, vilifying, demonising.
They very promptly wheel out anti-Semitism. There is an element of paranoia
in this inclination to view any serious attempt at a compromised peace as
somehow directed against Israel."
(P.S. Wheeling out antisemitism and vilifying, i.e., to characterize as vile. Last year at YIVO, Goldberg repeatedly referred to Walt and Mearsheimer as antisemites. And lately he has referred to them as "the vile Walt and the vile Mearsheimer." Precisely the tactics Zbig rightly contemns.)
Today, on the Newsweek website, is the following article:
"A Firmer Hand - Washington's New Jewish Lobby Presses Israel"

Those who repeatedly play the race and tribal card, whether forever screaming "anti-Semite," "racist," or "X-phobic," are destined to shrink morally, intellectually and spiritually. This is not to say that there aren't bigots, but to say that we are all bigoted because we are all human, and nearly all of us are tribal. The question is, do we want to continue to subsidize and encourage tribalism (ie Israel, affirmative action, the welfare plantation, the military-industrial complex) or do we want to pull out the crutch that is enabling simplistic, primitive thinking and force the tribalists to sink or swim?

Glenn Greenwald did two interviews with Dershowitz and Finkelstein. Absolutely brilliant job.
Dershowitz caught live in the libel act.
That man must be pretty sure he is untouchable ...

"I am tired of the political stupidity of the Jews.”
This is what Bill Kristol reportedly said at the recent Republican Jewish Coalition meeting in Washington, DC.
How about that?

"On the Political Stupidity of Jews" is an article by Irving Kristol.
You can find it in http://eaazi.blogspot.com/2007/12/jewish-christian-and-palestinian.html .

from KXB's link to the article on the new J-Street Lobby:
To his credit, the Newsweek reporter (Jewish, of course) tries to press the lobby's director on the crucial question of UNCONDITIONAL aid--
Q "You're suggesting actually withholding aid?"
A "No, I'm not saying that. I want to be really clear. ..."
So what we have here is another pro-Israel lobby, but with a different opinion on what's best for Israel. Not sure that's what American foreign policy needs right now.
But maybe they'll have a job for the Bloody Pigeon.

Brezinski is the kind of guy who would have been right there in Jedwebne. He and Carter are two of a kind, always have been.

Brilliant article. The Zbig interview. I appreciate that you give your reader the flavor of the particular encounter. I like its "movement"/dramaturgy many details and especially the end.

Online pharmacy MLM affiliates program is one such example. Pharmacy products, such as Viagra and Cialis, are always in high demand and you get a very good commission when you and your affiliates make a sale.

Beautiful Women Smoking Cigars Getting rid of old butts and ashes promptly is a good policy to reduce lingering odors, and you might want to invest in a portable air filter or a chemical scent neutralizing product if you plan to smoke in enclosed spaces.
