Surprise: A resolution for a blockade against Iran, pushed by AIPAC, has been shelved by the House leadership as being too belligerent. Many are calling it a defeat for the Israel lobby; Jim Lobe cites "an unexpectedly strong lobbying effort by a number of grassroots Iranian-American, Jewish-American, peace, and church groups effectively derailed the initiative..."

Interesting that strong Israel supporters Barney Frank and Robert Wexler defected on the resolution, and Chairman Howard Berman tabled it (gosh there sure are a lot of Jews in power spots; I guess we're not outsiders any more). Also that the National Iranian American Council led the anti-AIPAC lobbying effort, saying the bill was a war resolution that would cause gas prices to soar. Just what Walt and Mearsheimer said: that other lobbies can take on the Israel lobby. Says my source in the Iranian-American lobby, "what made the defeat of [House] 362 unique and newsworthy is... the ability of grassroots group to “beat back Goliath”.

Jim Lobe says Americans for Peace Now played an important role. I have to think that J Street and all the quiet publicity around the Israel lobby played a part. Jews are embarrassed by the revelations of power and self-dealing among the neocons.

This is one small victory for sanity. I was alerted to HR362 by MJ Rosenberg and wrote to my congressman to express my opposition. He was one of the original sponsors. He wrote back and said he was reconsidering his support. Could this be a turning point?

I don't know the specifics of what you are referring.

But, it is accurate that the insider and elite club of self-talkers are a repugnant way to conduct politics.

But, that is a MUCH smaller set of people than any reference to Jews. And, the common thread between them is NOT Jewishness, but a conservative political philosophy in a limited closed circle.

I watched some of the House debate on this bill on CSPAN and the only people clamoring for harsh sanctions were all pro-abortion, pro-homo sex, pro-open border Jews (Ackerman, Berman, Ros-Lehtinen).

I just googled Rep Gary Ackerman and find that he is a staunch opponent of Christmas and all things related to Christianity. Wait, hold that thought, Ackerman does relish one thing about the goy. That is the dream of Army Rangers killing massive amounts of muslims for the sake of Israel.

And to steal a line from the great Patrick J. Buchanan, those Rangers would have names like "McAllister, Murphy, Gonzales and Leroy Brown".

The goy are not that stupid. We know who pushes for these wars in the ME. We also know that those dead that pass through the motuary at Dover AFB were sent to their cold graves by the likes of Gary Ackerman.

Ackerman should sponsor a bill that would restrict Masses of Christian Burial for Murphy, Gonzales, etc..

Fascinating blog by Phil. Int'g comments by all. I mostly think we (that is, is USers) are not going to get anywhere against contemp Zionism and "good for the Jews" stuff until we do something about the source of Jewish power and wealth. It's obvious they don't have the votes to elect a dogcatcher outside the principal Jewish enclaves, but they have the money to buy the whole show. Where from? The current money brouhaha in NYC and DC is revelatory. How come half the billionaires are Jews? I want to suggest this is THE big thing, and you don't need or want an answer from me on that. But let me hint: compound interest on thin air—the Original Rothschild Program.
